« on: Wednesday 28 September 11 04:45 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find parents of John Cracknell and Jane Girling who were married on 18.10.1821 in Stradbroke Suffolk.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Roots Chat.

I don't know if you have seen John Cracknell's birth and marriage on IGI. It does not give his parents names but gives his birth date as 1783. It also lists the names and birth dates of his 8 children and some of their dates of death.

I have John Cracknell's birthdate as 2 July 1786 but 1783 is also possible.
He was born Stradbroke Suffolk.
I have Jane Girling as being born 1801 Stradbroke Suffolk, and also have
the list of their childred.  I did not have Jane's father, I do thank you for
that.  Hopefully I will find out both their sets of parents.
My relative is Henry Cracknell born 27.4.1823.
Thank you both so much for your input.

Hi there

A little bit of info from the Suffolk Marriage Index (Suffolk FHS)

John Cracknell married Jane GIRLING or GRINLING (alias) 18 Oct 1821 Stradbroke.

So it looks as though she may have assumed another name rather than using her birth name.  If someone could actually check the PR's for you they might be able to glean a little bit more info as to her real name.

The suggestion that Girling or Grinling was an 'alias' suggests she may have been bpt in a different name - for example  Jane Smith.

As I said if someone could actually check the marriage entry in the PR's for you it may just give you further clues as to her origins.
