Hi findem,

You know what it is like being from Australia also.
It is frustrating being so far away from all the relevant data, but it is
also very addictive.

Thank you for your good wishes.

Regards Jodaw

If you input the following command into your address bar (as is)
you should, if you are lucky, come up with all references to the Girling surname in Stradbroke.

http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/search/search_results.aspx?Page=3&QueryText=stradbroke+girling&SelectedDatabases=A2A%7cARCHON%7cBOOKSHOP%7cCABPAPERS%7cDOCUMENTSONLINE%7cEROL3%7cMOVINGHERE%7cNRA%7cNRALISTS%7cPREM19%7cRESEARCHGUIDES%7cE179%7cCATALOGUE%7cWEBSITE%7cTRAFALGAR&SearchType=Quick

You will find references in the late 18th century to men that could be linked to Jane. Check for events that happened behind the haystacks as well!

Dulverton, I have used the Rootschat Link Shrinker which brings your link to

 http://www.rootschat.com/links/0qmg/

If you modify your post to remove the long link, the page will then return to its normal size  ;D

Pat ...

Every time I find an ancestor,
I have to find two more!

SUFFOLK - Pendle, Stygall, Pipe, Fruer, Bridges, Fisk, Bellamy, Sparham - all link to  Framlingham
DERBY - Bridges and Frost (originally Framlingham/Parham)
NOTTINGHAM - Lambert & Selby
BERKSHIRE/then Hammersmith LDN - Fulker
LDN/MDX - Murray, Clancy, Broker, Hoskins, Marsden, Wilson, Sale

GGfather Michael Wilson born Cork, lived Fulham London - moved to Boston USA 1889, what happened next?

This Mendham marriage record may help;
William Girling (of Stradbroke) married by licence Jane Woods

9th October 1799

The SRO at Ipswich may well hold a copy of the licence.
