Alas with any sharpening its the resolution of the image and the file compression letting the sharpening process down. If its possible to scan again

using the tips on this post then maybe something more can do done. I know that it may not be possible as the original may be long gone but its always wroth a try! File compression, grain and resolution are so important when restoring old photos, and i sure you have heard it a million times so ill shh. :0)
