1851 Lookup Adlington Please
« on: Friday 06 May 05 23:12 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I have Frances Chatterton b.1848  Bollington, living with her Mother (Hannah b. abt 1812 Stockport) and Step Father at 37 Sugar Lane, Adlington. Step Farthers name John Sheldon aged 63 Farmer b. Adlington. John & Hannah marriage found on th Cheshire BMD site:

Cheshire Marriage indexes for the years: 1852

SHELDON *John CHATTERTON Hannah Cheadle, St Mary Stockport ST65/7/458
SHELDON *John SHEPLEY Hannah Cheadle, St Mary Stockport ST65/7/458

Can anyone look for Frances and mother  in 1851 (possibly Bollington). Is Fraces' Farther still alive and is there an address please? Trying to track down Fathers name and any other siblings.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers Rob

Hi Rob

The 1851 for Bollington shows only two housholds of Chatterton's.

HO107-2158-452  Shrigley Road Bollington

John Chatterton head 30 cotton spinner Bollington
Harriet                wife 27 cotton piecer Bollington
Joseph               Father 60 labourer Bollington

1841 HO107-104-10-Page 12 Pott Lane Bollington

There is a marriage indexed in the IGI 1836 between  Joseph Chatterton and Hannah Shepley.

The Joseph father of John and possible father of Joseph was not found in Bollington in 1841.

Not sure if it's connected, but I found this on a page I was looking at - Thomas Beard married Elizabeth Sheldon at Wilmslow Parish church 1st Jan 1824 witnessed by David Sheldon and John Sheldon. Its not far from Addlington so it may be your guy.
