Census occupation
« on: Sunday 25 September 11 18:37 BST (UK) »
Hi Guys.
I see on some census returns an occupation that looks like 'flesher' - I don't think that's right - although if it is right I don;t know what the heck it is...
anyway, I have attached a section of the census so if anyone cam help, I would appreciate it.

In Scotland it is a term for a meat seller. As opposed to a butcher who dismembers carcases.

Ah! Thanks for that. The late husband of the lady at the top was described as a 'butcher' elsewhere. Must have been the family business (well, his wife's family business)
