Banbury - William Penn b: 1837
« on: Sunday 25 September 11 03:55 BST (UK) »
I'm hoping someone could look up a Birth for William Penn, my 2 x Great Grandfather.  Birthplace, Banbury, Oxfordshire as given in censuses, I know his father is also a William Penn from the marriage certificate of my William Penn to Elizabeth Wilkes in 1860 in Sedgely Staffordshire.  Occupation for William Penn's father on the marriage certificate is Labourer.

Kind Regards
Valerie Heath

Hi Valerie

Welcome to Roots
Firstly I have to warn you I do NOT have a complete set of records but of those I do have I cannot see a William Penn 1837, the nearest is Frederick Thomas Bapt Banbury 10 sept 1837.

Not sure this helps much?
There are quite a few in the Methodist list I have but no William.

Hope this may help in a small way

Hi Caroline
Welcome to Roots. It is so exciting having started your tree isn't it?

There are some really good researchers on here who will always be able to help you with your research.
I would recommend to you that rather than making your enquiry as an answer to another post - all though I can see that you have picked up on Valerie's last name - In so doing you may loose the other chatters who may miss your enquiry because it becomes 'hidden' within another post. I hope you follow me here?

So bite the bullet and enter /start your own post and see what that turns up.

Select the county where you think your rellies were from or even country if you think there was an overseas connection. Then make a general enquiry on the front or select Look Up and ask for a specific look up?

You need to be careful not to ask about living folks as that is a sensitive issue of course. Put as much info as you can and try and be specific about what help you are asking for.

The Roots Guide and help sections are very very good as well and will guide you.

When you have posted a few posts - can't remember the exact number - you can then use the Personal Message section to drop some one a reply / request that only they and you can see - so you can help or be helped with more personal data.

I hope this helps but do read the offered guide lines on the intro pages on here for solid guidance.

T ra

Sorry about my reply to Caroline 'high jacking' a small part of your post - but it looked like she could do with a quick steer.
