Irish Ancestory!
« on: Friday 23 September 11 20:00 BST (UK) »
Hello, I am wondering if someone can point me in the right direction, I have traced back to my great-grandparents, whereby it says married in Ireland but not where, also for my great-grandfather it just has an X for his mark.  I am assuming it was this couple who moved to Glasgow sometime in the early 1800's.  I would like to know where to start looking for information.

If anyone can help me I would be extremely gratefull.

Thank you
Tricia

For the early 1800s you are looking at parish records to find your great grandparents, without the parish you are going to struggle, if they are Duffy's then typically this is a Cavan/Monaghan name but not exclusively.
Rourke's, Bowe's and Lawlor's of Carlow  Adamson's, Walker's, Nugent's and Murphy's of Dublin  O'Dea's and Keating's of Limerick  Murtagh's and Reilly's of Westmeath

To find Irish ancestors for such an early period you need to see if church records exist.
Have a look at Introduction to Irish Records and My Ancestor came from Ireland - where do I start?.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
