calculating for Birth record
« on: Friday 23 September 11 01:29 BST (UK) »
Now that I rec'd death and marriage research copies, I would like to get a birth record for William. Death says age 77 in 1941, thus born 1864........ I saw one on Family search Feb 12, 1864 0205 Castletown District Limerick Ireland.....What does the 0205 mean?  How can I send for one without a volume and page #? Then I saw a William Long  1864 Vol 5 page 205....
but this cannot be the one because the registration district is Croom......... Any suggestions?? Could Croom have been the registration district at the time in 1864?
On his marriage it said his father was John Long.... I saw a John Long age 80 and Mary age 71 1911 census Casletown  Co. Limerick  Newcastle West Poor Law Union says Croom. They were in the same area in 1901 census... It says parish Corcomohide... I am only guessing
Could these be his parents? John and Mary Murphy as per one record on family search.
since there are not many listed for this area?.........

Any suggestions would be appreciated ......thanks MALLA

0205 on the LDS record is the page number (205) in the civil registration index. If the volume and page number aren't shown you can search on the online index to get those details. I can't find a William Long birth 12 Feb.1864, etc. in LDS database.

Since William was, according to his death registration, born c1864 he could have been born late 1863 or his birth could be one of the early ones not registered.

Not sure if LDS site is acting up again but no matter what I try I cannot get this entry to come up in the results, so I searched on the original www.familysearch.org site and found the entry.

Perhaps someone else will be able to find it in the civil registration index to get you the volume number to order the certificate.

Added- checking the indexes from another source the only 1864 births for a William Long (with/without middle names) are in Dingle, Croom,. Mallow, Newtownards, Balrothery, Athlone, Lurgan, Youghal, Dublin North.
I'm wondering if the record you found in LDS Irish births has the incorrect year as it's strange 2 sources for the index do not seem to show it.

The death record I rec'd said age 77 in 1941, thus being born in 1864 matches......It will be interesting what else can be found...I did order a birth record. I wonder in LDS under Batch number C70122-5.....if the 5 is the Volume number?? Has anyone found this in any of the records they were searching for? thank you aghadowey for helping me with the curves in my path.........
