Ah sorry - didn't read it properly. Does the burial give a plot number at all? I have a map showing which portion certain plot numbers are in. Cuts down the walking  :)

Hi There

Just to set you straight - there isnt now & never has been a cemetery in Ranbow Hill - the main cemetery is in Astwood road - this road starts at the top of Rainbow hill & runs a long way untill it gets to the cemetery - as I said in a much earlier posting I was born at 9 Astweood road (just past the top of rainbow Hill) which is at the other end of the road to the cemetery

All the very best

Hi Sue

Tell you what, I shall be going to stay with cousins 10 miles outside Worcester for Christmas/New Year so let me know exactly who you want found in St Barnabus parish or the Astwood Rd Cemetery & I will have a look for you on one of my weekly visits to the Hive (record Office)

All the very best

Hi Sue

Jane Matilda Whiting was buried in consecrated ground on 11 November 1887 at Worcester Cemetery,  Astwood Road, in grave space 25151. The ceremony was performed by the Reverend P Norton. Jane was a widow aged 60, whose death occurred where she resided in Tunnel  Road ?, Claines.

There is a road called Tunnel Hill off Astwood Road, and that was in Claines parish until 1884, so the address is a bit odd for 1887.

Perhaps Netti can check her cemetery map and let you know where 25151 is.

25151 is in a section of the cemetery called "pit"?! (others have names such as far patch, hearse house & big patch).
It is a large section with grave numbers between 24473 and 26567. Finding Jane would be a challenge - perhaps compiling a list of surrounding people to try and pinpoint it? Or write to the cemetery office now you have exact details and ask them if they will send you a map?

Thankyou so much nemo and netti for this. I will attempt to write to the cemetry now I am sure where she is buried.
I really appreciate this,
Will let you know if I find anything else or manage to get there.
Phil if you do go to the Hive that's great but I think netti and nemo may have saved you a journey? if you can find anything else i would be happy but thanks very much for the offer.

Hi
Your relative was buried on 11 November 1887 at Astwood Rd. Her burial reference was 19073. Her burial plot is 25151.  The cemetery office should be able to easily point you to the precise spot with this information
