« on: Tuesday 20 September 11 22:58 BST (UK) »
Looking to connect with anyone related to the Neale family of Cumnor.My great grandfather was Charles Neale, b1863 Cumnor, m Mary Buswell, d 1933 Wytham. His father was also Charles, b 1825 Cumnor, m Jane Sims, d 1904 Cumnor.
I have also posted this on Oxfordshire page, as Cumnor is now in Oxfordshire

Hello Hilary,

Just to advise you that the Cumnor PRs (ex OFHS) reveal that Charles was bapt;
12-10-1862 s/o Charles * & Jane , Labr, Cumnor

and from the Wytham PRs (also ex OFHS) show this burial;
1933   #443, Charles Neale, Wantage Rd, Wallingford, Dec 26, age 71

*Buried 23-7-1904 Cumnor aged 79

I only mention this as I see you have been quoting 1863 as his birth.

I believe you may already have this info.

Hi Alan
Thanks for the info on Charles baptism, I see now from Freebmd and Ancestry hints, there are 2 Charles Neale's listed as born 1862 in Abingdon district. One is a Charles William,so now I'm not sure which one is mine!
How did you access the records info?
Regards, Hilary

Hi Hilary,
If you go to this web site and click on either A or Abingdon, it will tell you which parishes are included in each registration district. I find it very useful;

http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/index.html

Cumnor is in the Abingdon Dist. so one of the Charles Neale you found is the Cumnor one.
I've no idea who the other is or where to look.

Based on the info you have, I would think the Cumnor  Charles is your correct line. Where did he marry Mary Buswell?

The info I have is contained on the CD - OXF-AB03 - I purchased from the Oxford Family History Society;

http://www.ofhs.org.uk/CDsales.html

They do a range of CDs for purchase.

Alan

Hi Alan
Thanks for the links to the websites, I will definitely look at those. I dont know for sure where Charles married Mary Buswell, she was from Fewcott, I believe, but was in service in Cumnor by 1881,where I guess she met Charles so may well have married him in Cumnor.
Do you have any connection to the family?

Hi Hilary,

No - I have no connection with the family.

If you go to this site;
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?
PAGE=census/search_census.asp

you can find Mary in the 1881 census born in Fencott, Oxoxn.

Against the "census"  select 1881 British Census and enter her name, under country select England,  county all.  Census country England,   county all
The pages will automatically adjust after you enter country etc. so be prepared.

You will then be presented with pages of Buswell.   In this case I selected No.2  click on household and you'll find her as as housemaid domestic serv.

If you have'nt used this site before, then playing around with it can bring up some useful records ie, previous or next household.

Hope this helps you

Hi Hilary,

I should have added that they did not marry in Cumnor, so presumably it was Fencot,
which I see is in the Bicester Registration Dist. and under Oxford.

Yes - very addictive
