John Doran born about 1829 Carlisle cumberland

Hello All,
I've been looking for information about my ancester John Doran born about 1829, Carlisle Cumberland, for a while now.
I can't find out who his parents were or if he had any siblings.
I know he married a Sarah and what children he had and onwards from there but thats about it.

I would be grateful of any suggestions.

You really need one of the childrens birth certificates to find Sarah's maiden name and then work backwards from there.

There is a possible marriage (from freebmd)

Bowerbank  John    Cockermouth  10b 685   
Doron  John     Cockermouth  10b 685   
Hayton  Sarah     Cockermouth  10b 685   
Walker  Elizabeth     Cockermouth  10b 685

A  tree on A***try has this couple as parents of Ann, Ellen, Robert, Francis, William, James and Sarah but this information should always be checked.

The marriage cert should give Johns fathers name unless he was illegitimate.

Many thanks for your reply, I wasn't sure about Sarah Hayton but anyway as you say one of the children's birth certificates would give me the mothers maiden name, so I should go from there.
