James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.

Just be aware that website is 10 years old and the information posted may be out-of-date.

Jersey birth certificates are obtained from the Superintendent Registrars Office, Royal Square, St Helier but we warned - they cost £20 each! It helps if you know the volume and page number and the only way of finding it is to physically search the indexes at the Jersey Archive or to get someone to do it for you.

If you are looking for a pre 1900 St Helier birth it may be on www.jerseyheritagetrust.jeron.je on their baptism index.

Unless you really want/need the certificate I suggest you post the details and one of us will have a look at it for you (no charge for looking) and send you the details.
