Worthington Family History
« on: Saturday 17 September 11 13:53 BST (UK) »
Hello! I'm am trying to find out some more information about my great and great, great grandfathers - both called Thomas Worthington. The first Thomas Worthington (1847-1910) I know married Jane Robson (1854-1931). Thomas' father (also called Thomas) I think was born around 1809 in Montgomeryshire, Wales. He is listed on the 1861 census as living in Radcliff, London and working as a grocer and cheesemonger and was married to Elizabeth Arnett. I would love to know more about this Thomas and his life before moving to London. I think his father may have been a farmer called William but I have no more information about him. If you are able to help me fill in the gaps I would be most grateful!
Worthington, Arnett, Robson, Easton, Montgomeryshire, Stepney, London, Middlesex

I think you'd need to look at the parish records but if you don't know where in Montgomeryshire he comes from that could be tricky.  Are you getting the info about his father being a farmer called William from his marriage cert?

The 1861 census at Ratcliffe has

His wife Elizabeth was age 42 bn Hull, children Frances 14, Thomas 13, William 7 and Jane 2 all bn Ratcliff (Tower Hamlets).

They should be in London in 1851

Could he have been William Thomas and used both names
