Could you give us a census reference for Mary after her marriage to William please?  At the moment I can't see a Mary McCormick who matches your details.

On the earlier censuses there is a Mary Wright born c1849 in Denton/Haughton Green whose parents seem to be William and Mary:

1851
HO107/2235/171/15 - Haughton Green, Lancashire
William WRIGHT  Head  46  Works in a Coal Pit  b. Haughton
Mary WRIGHT  Wife  45  b. Stockport
Jane WRIGHT  Dau  18  Frame Tenter, Cotton  b. Haughton
Eliza WRIGHT  Dau  17  Frame Tenter, Cotton  b. Haughton
William WRIGHT  Son  12  Frame Tenter, Cotton  b. Haughton
Betty WRIGHT  Dau  10  Frame Tenter, Cotton  b. Haughton
George WRIGHT  Son  7  Scholar  b. Haughton
David WRIGHT  Son  4  b. Haughton
Mary WRIGHT  Dau  1  b. Haughton

(In 1861, William is married to a second wife, Sarah, and only the three youngest children are still at home.)

The 1881 census reference is RG11/3467/20/34. The 1891 census reference is RG12/3349/80/10. In 1901, the children are at census reference RG13/3846/127/21. GF

I have found a marriage of William Wright to a Sarah Brice/Pickup (both the names Sarah Brice and Sarah Pickup are in the register meaning that she might have been married before. We cannot tell which was her maiden name)
at Ashton Under Lyne St Michael in 1855

Jane's baptism is on: http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/toc.html
at Denton St Lawrence.

Mary looks to be the only one born Denton (covers Haughton)
1849 on  http://www.cheshirebmd.org.uk/index.php

Until CheshireBMD put the mothers maiden name on the Births for the area the only sure way to find Mary's mum maiden name is to buy a copy of the certificate. People were married in Manchester, Stockport, Ashton under Lyne as well as Denton, sometimes they even married in Mottram in Longdendale.

According to Williams 2nd marriage his dad was John this looks like Williams baptism in 1807:
