St elizabeths home Upton park
« on: Wednesday 14 September 11 21:04 BST (UK) »
Hi as a brand new member not sure on how to start this search.I am trying to find out what St Elizabeths home was for and 26 Howards rd Upton park I think it was for unmarried mothers but the link with 26 Howard rd is confusing.
My mother was born here in 1912 although her mother (my grand mother) was sent to St Elizabeths home from an address in Folkestone Kent.I found this on the birth cert
St Elizabeths home was in Green St Upton Park (West Ham) does anyone know what happened to the home, the connection with 26 Howards Rd and are the any records on what happened to the babies when they were born.
Thanks

Hi

Welcome to Rootschat.

I think you are right, 26 Howard Road does appear to be a mother and baby home.

Have a look at this post, some one else was asking a similar question.
