1901 census for William Threadwell
« on: Wednesday 14 September 11 12:05 BST (UK) »
Forgive me for going over old ground, I have been trying to locate this family on the 1901 census since March. If someone could help me find William Henry Threadwell  B. 1885 Stratford (West Ham district), his father died in 1899, his mother Mary died in 1907 both in Stratford. William is shown as Henry Threadwell on the 1911 census.

Thank you for any help that is given

Hi,
Not sure that this is him but seems likely.
William Henry Threadwell born 1883, Stratford, West ham , Essex joined the Militia, Essex Reg 44 th and 56 th foot.
Attested 1 st August 1900
There seems to be a follow on record for a Henry Threadwell born West Ham in the British Army Pension Records.
It says he was posted 22.02.01 but not where to ,although he was in South Africa 25.04.02
Mother Mary, sisters Alice and Florrie (both married)
If you think this could be your William, he may have been out of the country at census time.

Best wishes
 Cathy

In 1891 the family ( father Frederick?)  are at 47, Callum Street, West Ham ( transcribed Thurlwell on FindMyPast)
 Rg12/1311  94/34
This address is  mentioned in Army records as William s residence at the time.

Thank you cath151 for your quick response.  I would never have found the details you so kindly have given me. This is most certainly the family I have been looking for, although I have Williams birth in 1885 not 1883. You mention British Army Pension Records, Is it possible you could point me in the right direction to be able to request these, or let me know how you found out these details.
Once more thank you.

Hi Greta,
He might have adjusted his age to enter the army.
There are 4 pages of images available on Findmypast for a William Henry in the British Army Service Records 1760-1915(Militia).
Records for Henry Threadwell are available in the British Army Pension Records on Ancestry .co.uk.
Looks like he probably served in the Boer War.
Best wishes
Cathy

Thank you again Cathy for that information, I will have fun looking them up.
You mentioned William H's mother Mary and sister's Alice and Florrie, were you able to find them on the 1901 census or were they mentioned on his army records?.
Sorry to be a nuisance

I have info on his father, but didn't follow William. His daughter Florence May married Joseph Humphreys and had 5 children (that I know of).
