Sherrard/McCormick/Laverty
« on: Wednesday 14 September 11 08:55 BST (UK) »
I started a few months ago trying to trace my Sherrard family in the Ballycastle area as my grandmother Mary Sherrard was born in Bonamargy in 1884. My great grandparents were James Sherrard b 1862 and Mary McCormick b 1863. Mary McCormick's parents were John McCormick ,who was a collier, and Mary Jane Laverty. Mary McCormick was working as a domestic servant in Campbeltown in 1883 where she married James Sherrard (b 1862) in the Episcopal church there. They were living in Lochend Street. A year later their daughter was born in Bonamargy as James address was then Limavady I assume that Mary McCormick's family were living in Bonamargy near Ballycastle & that Mary had gone back to her parents house for the birth of her daughter. I'm not sure why my great grandparents got married in Scotland
If anyone can shed any further light on my family would love to hear from them.
Thanks

Lynne
