Mathew Sherrard's birth certificate arrived yesterday which confirmed that his parents were my great grandparents James & Mary Sherrard (McCormick). James & Mary had 10 Children - Mary b 1884, James b 1886, Lizzie b 1887, John b 1888, Robert b 1892, William b 1894, Matthew b 1896, Ellen (Nellie) b 1898, Daniel b 1900 & Ernest b 1904. Have found John in 1911 as a servant in the house of Thomas Parker 16 Ballyutoag. The only Elizabeth I can find in 1911 is a servant in Clifton Antrim but she was born in derry. This might be correct if James & his wife went back to his family briefly at this time but probably unlikely so Elizabeth may have married by 1911.

Will keep looking but any contributions gratefull received

If anyone can shed any further light on my family would love to hear from them.

Hi Lynne, I have a Robert McCormick as the informant on my probable ancestor's death certificate in 1866, in Ballycastle.  He's signed his name and said he was present at the death.  My ancestor was supposedly buried at Bonamargy too. If you'd like a copy I'm more than happy to email it to you.

The James Sherrard b.1886 (In regards to the one I am thinking of, I was told he was born in 1881) does anyone know what happened to him? Did he have any children? My Grandad John (Jack) Sherrard  father was called James Sherrard and was born on a family farm up around County Derry or County Antrim. John Sherrard grew up in Belfast.

Thanks for getting back to me - My James died in 1907 in the Ballycastle area. He had 10 children listed on the earlier posting. If you can't access the earlier posting let me know & I'll send it again. I think his parents names from his marriage certificate were Thomas & Jane but the writing isn't clear.
Let me know if you think it is the same family. I haven't got any info about Jame's siblings unfortunately but I do know he came from Limavady

Ah sorry I seemed to miss them earlier comments. I don't think they are related though the James I am looking for, I do think he came from Limavady or Coleraine but moved to belfast. Such a shame I got a bit excited there. John Sherrard (my grandad) was born in 1916 in Belfast with his 2 brothers and 1 sister.

I am also trying to research my Sherrard ancestors. My grandfather was Hugh (born in Belfast in 1900) His family before that came from Carnmoney. Hugh's father was Samuel and his mother Isabella. Samuel's father was also Samuel and his wife was Rose Anna.  I want to know about the brothers and sisters, if any. I do not think my grandfather had any brothers and he only had one daughter (my mother) so that 'line' died out. Do you think we are in any way connected?
