Hi there,  I am new and reseaching my husbands family.  Looking for any information on george henry fife of new zealand. I have no dates for them but a list of their children and nothing else.

1965 - FIFE - George Henry - 87 years (born abt. 1878)
[This is likely the child "Henry George FIFE" - birth registered 1877 - son of George Henry and Sarah FIFE.]

You'll find quite a lot of FIFE information at the following site.

In search boxes, enter "Surname - FIFE" and "Country - select > New Zealand".

Scroll down to info under the heading of "International Genealogical Index" (IGI).

A caution though.      Much of the information has been "submitted" and sources have not been quoted.  [Sometimes the info listed does prove to be correct, but best practice is to try and locate official records to verify same.]

Amongst the IGI listings are several for "George Henry FIFE" born around 1854, which give varying info.

One is an "extracted" record - meaning it comes from a usually reliable source (in this case a baptism record ).

I only question that it states, "Ruapuke, Auckland".  ??   

There is a place "Ruapuke" (North Island) located near the coastline between Raglan and Kawhia.   However, I believe the place of baptism should read "Ruapuke Island"  (which fits in with the South Island location of the other FIFE family listings.)     [Ruapuke Island - now uninhabited - approx. 15 km SE of Bluff - but once had a Maori population of around 200.  More info can be had via "Google".]

Note:   Unable to find records for the above two marriages (though that doesn't mean that they didn't take place.)
The reason for this may be ... "that prior to 1911, there was no compulsion to (officially) register Maori marriages".
