Names Thomas SELWAY and Hannah CHURCHILL were in the family documents, but not the marriage. I found the marriage on FamilyHistoryOnline.

"Groom Thos. Selway status – of –, – Bride Hannah Churchill status – of –, – married on 09 Apr 1804 at parish Stone Easton by – Witnesses – Notes –"

I paid.....got the date, the names, the place, and nothing else except the source.....

"Record source:    Somerset Marriages (post-1754)
Data provider:    Somerset & Dorset Family History Society"

Yes, there are lots of records for Hannah and her family in Shepton Mallet. I can't find any baptisms for her children there though. Hopwever there are Selways in Shepton Mallet who could well be related.

Son Frederick used the name Churchill for some of his children.

Ummm.... Somerset ....

I have downloaded pages and pages of transcriptions (made this century) for my Baltonsborough, Somerset forebears various spreadsheets of transcriptions of PRs, including marriages from 1740.   I realise Baltonsborough is not Stone Easton, but if someone has transcribed Baltonsborough (St Dunstan) then perhaps there's already transcriptions for Stone Easton !

In the morrow, I will have good look for the name of the transcriber, and also for any indications of Stone Easton PRs being transcribed...

Cheers,  JM

Clutching at straws if the PRs have been destroyed.

This is a lot later but at least a Selway link with Ston Easton.

Oh well, JM.......one just has to keep on keeping on, you know. You never know when something might suddenly crop up......like it did with my Bauers and my Buttons.

I'm about to do some more concentrated census searching and sorting.   ;)   :D

From what I understand, the early parish registers for Ston Easton were stolen - not sure when - but some records were transcribed onto the SDFH index before that event. It all sounds a bit patchy to say the least, but if they were stolen, perhaps they just MIGHT turn up again  ::)

Especially looking for - Sealey, Rogers, Cannings, Box, Sheppard in Wiltshire; Virgin, Slade, Abbott, Saint, Harper, Silverthorn in Somerset; and Virgin, Tarr, Beer in Devon

And most especially the origins of William Cannings,  a Baptist, born abt 1791 in Broughton Gifford, Wiltshire
