There's a Thomas SELWAY and wife Martha having children around the same time as Thomas and Hannah too. They didn't want to make this hunt easy, did they?   :-\

Not a thing, Toni, for Thomas senior. All I know is the he married in Ston Easton, and Hannah Churchill was from Shepton Mallet.

Glencare has emailed me to say that there are quite a lot of papers in the archives for Ston Easton that mention the name SELWAY, but Ston Easton PRs are non existant pre 1813.    :'(   :'(

hmm but how did you find the marriage then with not PR's ?
were there any witnesses to the marriage are they both described as OTP?
(i know this means 21 days pre marriage)
if he was a labourer it would be unlikely he owned peropety but have you consulted the land tax records a complete set survives for 1798
i wonder also if he met the requiremnts to be able to vote this is another avenue you could explore.
was Hannah of Shepton Mallet at time of marriage or just from the census ?
Shepton Mallet may be worth looking at for bp. of her children sometimes they did return to the brides home parish.
