From the way I read the newspaper snippet, JM, the "Margaret Brock" was doing coastal trips between Melbourne and Adelaide, in which case I have no idea of the ship he may have arrived on from England.    :-\

Glencare has very kindly emailed me some SELWAY BMD parish record transcriptions for various parishes in the Bath area. (Thanks, Glen!   :)  )

There are baptisms for some of the children of John SELWAY and Caroline.

ST. SWITHINS,WALCOT PARISH

May 1831

John Selway
s/o John (plumber, painter, plasterer of Kingsbury Street) & Caroline
March 1835

John Selway
s/o John & Hannah
Jan 1810 (b 18-1-1809)

ST. JAMES’ PARISH
William Selway
s/o John (a plumber, painter, plasterer of 7, Back Street) & Caroline
22 Nov 1840

There's this marriage at St James as well .....

William Selway, bachelor, labourer of Seldens Court
  s/o Thomas Selway, labourer
Louisa Haynton, spinster of Seldens Court
  d/o Thomas Haynton, labourer
witnesses John Burnell, Sarah Burnell
8-9-1840

Wonder if we can find out any more about William?

Dee   :)

Toni, it seems that both John and William may have been sons of my Thomas. Only problem is that there was at least one more Thomas SELWAY having children in the area around the same time. There was a Thomas and Emma for sure.   :-\

I need to find some baptisms for more children for Thomas and Hannah, including a John and a William, don't I?

Yes, that could be William and Louisa in 1841 and 51......   :)
