From Google books:

Selway,Thomas,baker,27 Walcot Street

I don't think this can be your Thomas as I've just  seen this death announcement from The Bristol Mercury & Daily Post 25 Nov 1893
"Nov 20th,Maria,relict of the late Thomas Selway of Walcot Street,Bath aged 83"

Unless that's opening a can of worms  :-\

What is the last appearance of Thomas senior ? is he given as deceased on Fredericks marriage ? who were the witnesses at Fredericks marriage are they relations ?

Thomas is just given as a Farmer on Frederick's marriage certificate. There's no mention of him being deceased.

Frederick married Sarah WATTS 6th Feb 1847 in the parish church at Bathwick. Witnesses were John WATTS, brother of Sarah, and Elizabeth SELWAY, sister of Frederick.

Just throwing a little bit more of a spanner in the works... have you discounted the Thomas Selway, farmer, living with Ann his wife in Clutton in the 1841? Ref HO107/ 938 Folio 6/29 page 2 ...

I think I spotted them on FindMyPast.....I'll check in a moment.   :)

I've saved the 1841 image for Thomas and Ann SELWAY......  :)

Thomas aged 30 being with them.....age could have been rounded down, couldn't it......

If he was under 35, the age would definitely have been rounded down. There's a Henry next door but one too....

Especially looking for - Sealey, Rogers, Cannings, Box, Sheppard in Wiltshire; Virgin, Slade, Abbott, Saint, Harper, Silverthorn in Somerset; and Virgin, Tarr, Beer in Devon

And most especially the origins of William Cannings,  a Baptist, born abt 1791 in Broughton Gifford, Wiltshire

John Selway aged 19 married Caroline Snook aged 17 at Weston Somerset on 27 July 1840 his father was Thomas her father was William – this looks promising.

.....

Well worth saving to my files, Toni, together with the Census info, for further investigation.   :D
