Pringle family

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for any information on John Pringle and Helen Finlay born around the early 1800's. They had a son James Finlay Pringle born 1821 in Glasgow. He married Mary Bain in 1839 and then married Janet Morris in 1853.

I cannot seem to find a marriage certificate for John and Helen on Scotlands people.

John Pringle married Helen Finlay 21/6/1799 Glasgow, Lanarkshire.

(the source is given as Scotland Marriages 1561-1910).

Any idea what John and Helen's parents name's are? There are so many John Pringle's when I search and I don't really have any exact details to search with.

Not at the moment Brydee but will have a dig later.There may be a birth between the marriage and that of Helen,possibly a daughter,just a thought.

Still searching Brydee,I see your problem with John.A possible birth for his wife however.Helen Finlay born 1771 in Edinburgh to John Finlay and Helen Hendry.Only a possibility at this time but it could explain why James has children in Glasgow and Edinburgh if his mother's family were from there.Anyway here is James on the 1861 census.Address 177 Pleasance,Edinburgh St.Cuthberts.

First Annie born 1845 must have died for them to name another child Annie.Looks like George born 1863 didn't make it either.I'm unsure about the Elizabeth Calder Pringle entered as daughter,I'm wondering if she is a grandaughter,will have to check.The Calder name is involved somewhere as one of the visitors is a Calder.

Not sure if this helps but I've found the death of a Catherine Gibb, Tradeston, 26 April 1863, Aged  54. (Married to William Gibb, tailor and clothier)

Her parents were John Pringle, cabinet maker (master) and  Helen M.S Finlay. Both deceased

This ties in with James Finlay Pringle's death cert of 1885 where John  is a joiner (journeyman)

Catherine would have been born cira 1809,

She is on the 1851
