Bucklands of Thames NZ
« on: Monday 12 September 11 04:03 BST (UK) »
I am searching fo Charles Buckland's ancestors possibly from Chippenham or around Wiltshire. He married Rhoda Ruth Canning and migrated to Thames NZ where he ran a pub (Salutation). His son George Ernest is my G-grandfather. Also looking into George's wife - Laura Ellen Butt's family

There are also 9 visitors with occupations such as Pianist, Singer and Theatrical Manager, so I guess that a theatre troupe were staying or performing there

Baptism Register
Leatherhead

William John son of William and Nanny BUCKLAND of Leatherhead  Baptised January 24th 1836. Father's Occupation Journeyman Shoemaker.

Alfred son of William and Nanny BUCKLAND of Leatherhead Born 12th January 1838 Baptised 11th February 1838  Father's Occupation Shoemaker

Eliza daughter of William and Nanny BUCKLAND of Leatherhead.  Born 10th March 1841 Baptised 4th April 1841 Father's Occupation Shoemaker

Charles son of William and Nanny BUCKLAND of Leatherhead. Born 20th May 1843 Baptised 18th June 1843 Father's Occupation Shoemaker

Given that son Alfred's occupation in 1851 was Shoe Maker, it is most likely that this is the right family.
