Hi Isobelruss,
Thank you for that bit of information, yet again my lot using another surname, this time GRIMSON and I ought to have checked that mind you it is possible that Louise St Clair who was doing a One Name Study on the GRIMSON/ GRIMSTON/ GRIMSTONE surname had him in her database, it would appear that Louise may no longer be doing any research however i could be proven wrong on that count.
As for the birth place being in County Down that is a possible however more likely to have been County Armagh as that is were the bulk of the GRIMASON baptisms / births are for the period of 1846 to 1864 at least.
Looks like I will need to check out that Marriage and see if it gives any clues as to his parents.

Hi Isobelruss,
I know about the other Samuel GRIMASON or as you have him GRIMERSON yet another variation of the surname that I already knew about.
So the two Samuel GRIMASON's that were in the armed forces about 1880 who married are as follows;

Samuel GRIMASON / GRIMSON + Maria Clark ROWE 1861 @ Greenwich, England
Ex Weaver, well that sure is one of the occupations my lot did, however I guess it was not exclusive to one surname.

Samuel GRIMASOM + Theresa CAMILLERIE 1 Aug 1864 @ Malta
This Samuel was born about 1836 @ Drumcree, Armagh, Ireland.

Please note both Samuels had sons by the same name as well, why should I not be surprised. lol
It would appear that Samuel GRIMASON the son of Samuel GRIMASON and Maria Clark ROWE also was involved in the Armed forces at least about 1901 after that period I am not sure.

As for the other Samuel GRIMASON the son of Samuel GRIMASON  and Theresa CAMILLERIE his occupation was a Boot maker and he Died in CANADA in 1958 there is a bit of a story that goes with this one concerning family in England and Canada that neither knew about each other, still unraveling the Canadian part.
