Thanks for your response.

My family's connection to Cork revolves around the family of my ancestor John Sudlow, although I can find no record of him ever being there himself. John Sudlow came from Liverpool but had Sudlow relatives in Manchester. I have not come across the name Dynan in relation to my family.

regards

Suds

Both Dynan and Dinan are still popular surnames in the greater Cork area. Some more info may be had from the parish records in west Cork, in possibly the Macroom areas. Also the early 20th century census are now available online FOC which may help further - 1901 and 1911 http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/

I’ve just been reading the last message from Suds and I had a thought.

The Sudlow name is very similar to Ludlow (in Shropshire) and Ludlow Castle used to belong to Joce de Dynan, with one gate surrounding the moat still called Dynan/Dinan gate.
So I’m just wondering....stretch of the imagination I admit...if ‘Sudlow’ was at some point ‘Ludlow’ but was mis-transcribed or mis-read from Cursive script ‘L’ and ‘S’....maybe!? (Weirdly my gadget keeps trying to turn Sudlow to Ludlow too!).

Apologies if this is a wild goose chase/flight of fiction, but I do know ‘mis-transcription’ errors occur.
Dynan, McNamara, with potentially O’Dea, Casey, Mahoney, O’Neill and other historic Irish, likely Co Clare surname connections.
