Records for Measham 1851-1854

Hi,
can anyone help me in my quest to find birth certificates for 2 of my ancestors that were born in Measham? Bridget Dugan was born 1851 and John Dugan was born 1854, both in Measham to Irish parents, Michael and Catherine Dugan. They are the 3rd and 4th born, the 2 previous siblings born in Ireland too. As it looks like the county boundaries have changed, I have tried Leicestershire records office in Glenfield and also the records office in Derby. Leicester say they have a few but not many (and not computerised) and Derby say we really don't think we can be of much use (also not computerised). Somewhere must house these records.
Also, the information we have about them has come from census returns (not always 100% accurate). I have looked and have had difficulty finding birth records for them. Have looked at Duggans, Dougans etc but still drawn a blank.
If anyone could help, I would be eternally grateful.

Reg District on 1861 Census is Ashby de la Zouch

You can order the Cert/s with the proviso the Parents are Michael/Catherine.
Do you heed the Cert/s to establish Catherines maiden name?

thankyou ever so much for finding these records - not sure where I went wrong!
They certainly will help in my search to find out about this family. They seem to disappear off the face of the earth after 1861 being and with the parents being from Ireland - Catherine 1814 from Dareybrode - doesn't exist, but may be Dareygarve, and Michael  1819 from Bottradon, also doesn't exist but may be Portadown, we felt we needed something concrete about these kids. And mother's maiden name would be nice too!

Hi Trish,
thanks for your replies. I amdescended from Andrew, son of Michael and Catherine. We know about him and have just found his unmarked grave in Wakefield, west yorkshire. The deaths you have found for Michael and Catherine are interesting. At first I dismissed them because of their rough birth years but people were not always that honest in census returns from years ago were they? But then I thought they may fit with not being able to find them both on the 1871 census, but with there being a Michael living with possibly son Michael (even though it does not state relationship to head of house) and him being widowed, it might fit and same occupation too! I looked at that census last week but discounted it due to father Michael's age, but if death records are correct, who knows, possibly! They also live in the same road that they did in 1861.
You may well have solved a mystery for us and have given us lots to think about.
