Liverpool Pub.
« on: Friday 09 September 11 10:07 BST (UK) »
Hi
Wonder if anybody could point me in the right direction,in finding out the
name of a Public house in 1910.The address begin was either 9 Gt Crosshall street Liverpool or just
9 Crosshall street.Liverpool. I looked up the census 1911 summary book, but was just listed has Public house. Any help would be most appreciated.

The Borough Hotel is/was #19, so I think the others on the corner of Fontenoy Street will be higher numbers.

Hi Mark

Have you looked on the Historical Directories site?  I think they go up to that date.

Search for the address and also for pubs in the road - and any roads it links to as it could be a corner site.  YYou could try searching on the family names you think might be there, too.

Best wishes

Emms :)

1911 Gores Directory has:
9 Great Crosshall Street,
"Robin Hood"
 Mrs Rose Ruddy

Johnson Street was next then 11 and 13 Great Crosshall Street.

So it was on the corner of Johnson Street.

The 'City of Liverpool Licensing Report Book' for 1909 has Robin Hood, as stated by Mo.  Rose Ruddy was the tied tenant of Bent's Brewery Ltd.  The street is 'Great Crosshall Street'.
