I have a James Archer married to Elizabeth Braggington (various spellings).
Elizabeth was born 1845 in Evenlode and James c1841 in Chipping Norton, Oxford.

they married 1876
Marriages Jun 1876
Archer    James        Stow on W.    6a   723
BRAGGINTON    Elizabeth        Stow on W    6a   723
Braginton    Elizabeth        Stow on W.    6a   723

1881 Address: 10 Queen Street, Chastleton
There were no children on that census.

By 1891 James was a widow living in Evenlode
ARCHER James Widr 50 Ag Lab Chipping Norton
 Stow on the Wold

Elizabeth died 1889

and similarly in 1901

Hi LK
So sorry for the late reply and may i say thank you for the census info,im sure there may be a connection with the James Archer on 1881 census and my family but unfortuneately the only info i have on mine is the following
The marriage of a James Archer(who i think from Lower Sewell near the Stow on Wold area) to a Hannah or Anna Masters 1809 in West cote 22nd May 1809  apparently they then travelled onto Fifeild and had 2 children
Sarah (My 4x Great Gran on my Gramps side)
Anna born 1814
Then they seem to have travelled again to Evenlode
Mary Archer baptised 12th sep 1816 St Edwards Evenlode
im unsure of where family travelled to next or if they did infact stay in Evenlode  untill my 4x Grt Gran turns up and marries my 4x Grt Gramp William Clarke(a coal dealer)in Moreton in marsh in 1830s.
Sorry i havent got much info but ive not had a lot of joy tracing my Archer or Masters relatives especially as sometimes they seem to of used the surname Archard id love to know if the James you mention is from the same family?its looking highly likely, any info you may be able to add or help with  would be really appreciated
many thanks again
Dunc
