Hello,
Since talking last time,I have been going thru all my paperwork on Agnes Monkhouse and Richard Shadwell.
Richard Shadwell died at Thyet Myo,Bengal,India,30 May 1858 from icterus and was buried at Thyet Myo,31 May 1958. His death was not war related.
I have a copy of his burial info. It states he was 34yrs,and a Sergeant in the 29 Regt,
He was in the same regiment as my great grandfather,Robert Currey. They were friends in the army.
Robert Currey was previously married to Sarah Reed nee Miller. Sarah died 27 December 1856 and is also buried at Thyet Myo. They had at least three children, who all predeceased Sarah.
After Richard Shadwell died,Robert Currey married Agnes Shadwell nee Monkhouse,11 April 1859,Fort William,Calcutta.
Agnes' mother Barbara Monkhouse was born 7 May 1804,Ravensworth,North Yorkshire. Pretty sure she died in India, but cannot find a death date. Her husband James, who was previously called Pinnock, was born 9 May 1810,Tweedmouth,Northumberland. and died 13 January 1849 in the hospital barracks,Ferozepore,India.
Barbara Monkhouse's parents were Jonathan Monkhouse 1767-1851,and Margaret Coates c1770-1862.
James Pinnock's were James Pinnock 1785-1853 and Margaret Carr 1785-1852.
Re: Agnes Monkhouse's birth. I have researched a lot of parishes in Lancashire 1833-1835 but no luck.
I also emailed the Devon FHS, the Bristol Records Office and the Bath Records Office, who kindly done baptismal searches for me,but again no luck.
Also the Genealogical Society of Queensland kindly done a search for me of a LDS microfilm from the Presidency of Bengal, titled parish register transcripts of baptisms 1833-1835,but once again no luck.
As Elizabeth emailed from IGI info on Agnes' marriage of 15 January 1850,it states Agnes born 1835 age 15.
It also states Richard Shadwell being born 1826 age 24,yet from IGI info on his death certificate,it gives his age at 34yrs,which puts his birth at 1824-1825.
The Richard Shadwell who was born Nedingworth,Cambridgeshire and who is listed on the 1851 census,I don't think is Agnes Monkhouse's Richard Shadwell,as he was in the Bristish Army in India at that time.
Regards,
Neville.
