I am trying to find the military records of John Milne Reg No 5/7962 in 8th Battalion
Seaforth Highlanders
Died 20/9/1917 in  (France or Belguim) quote from GROS 127/AF 0183
Will the regimental records show his parentage, place of birth, or home address?
and thereby confirm a family connection

He died age 33. Son of John and Eliza Milne.

Enlisted Leith, Midlothian.
Residence not given.

Thanks very much Phil,
Sadly it looks like its not a relation, as my John Milne was born in Glasgow to Charles Milne and Elizabeth Smith and was a plumber in Glasgow in the 1911 census.
So it's back to the drawing board to find out what happened to him.
