McAuley Family

Hello
I'm trying to trace the parents and area of Ireland for James McAuley born 1869. Parents names are James McAuley and Ellen McQuillan.
James McAuley was born 1869 in Ireland, married 1901 to Elizabeth Dickerson in Glasgow and died in Glasgow in 1928. He worked as a Dock Labourer and probably came to Scotland as a young man.
Any information gratefully received as we can find nothing in the Scotland records or on Ancestry.

I am looking for any information about the following family.
James McAuley and Ellen McQuillan who lived in Antrim and had at least 3 children. James born 1879, William born 1871 and Bernard born 1878.
Particularly interested in any census returns or gravestones that can show where this family lived.
We already have births for the 3 sons from familysearch.
Thanks.

Birth certificates for any of the children will list an
exact
place (townland) of birth- Cushendall from William's information on LDS site is likely the registration district. The certificate will also list father's occupation.
The only 2 available census years will be 1901 and 1911- both are online (free). McAuley (with lots of spelling variations) is a very common surname in North Antrim.

Do you know what religion the family were? This will help locate them in census records and determine where to find church records and gravestone (if any)/burial information.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for
some time
many years!

Not sure about that Jim - the ages are thereabouts but don't fit exactly and the mother is down as Nancy not Ellen.
But will keep them in mind just in case.
Thanks for all the suggestions.

Plus - James would have to have been a quick worker since he got married in Glasgow in 1901!
