Arrival in Winnipeg 1920 - W.H. Dangerfield
« on: Monday 05 September 11 18:53 BST (UK) »
Been trying to find William Dangerfield. Tried various searches with no joy.

Grandmother and family always believed he emigrated to Canada.

Having found a passenger list with W. Dangerfield arriving in New York in Nov 21, 1909 on the ship Caronia. His sister is listed as 'nearist relative in UK', E. Dangerfield. The list also shows his destination as far as I can make out 'Los Angeles'.

Born approx. 1875 in Tipton, Staffs, UK.

thanks

It says he was going to join his uncle W. Robinson, 1047 So. Hill Str., Los Angeles.  It's helpful to check the next page of each manifest, as they often have further information.

California Death Index shows a William Henry Dangerfield. Born 16 May 1865 Other Country and died in Los Angeles 30 January 1953
Mother's Maiden Name was Austin
Father's Surname was Dangerfield

Does this look correct ?

Thanks,

Just been reading all my notes and family tree etc.

Although it appears the above William Dangerfield I've been tracing is my relative because of E. Dangerfiled being listed.

He is 1 of 11 brothers & sisters, Parents James & Annie Glover, my mistake birth is 1875 on my tree, not 1865 and is from Tipton.

Unless he was visiting his uncle for some 17yrs, I've found another list of arriving in Quebec 24 Sept 1920 on ship 'Melita'. Desination - Winnipeg. Which maybe where they believe he did go to Canada.

thanks again

Perhaps you could ask the moderator to move this thread to the Canada board where you may get some further input from the Canadian experts.

Good Luck

Popping in with perhaps a brother also in Winnipeg, Samuel George Dangerfield ...
http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/cef/001042-119.01-e.php?&id_nbr=346488

oops just saw it was "Simon" G. born 1881....however I don't see any Dudley district Samuel rin that year range either...

So I think it may have been an error as I believe it is Simon... Here he is in 1911 and he lives with a sister Mary Jane Gilbert
