Completed- 1861 census location, Tongland Parish

Trying to locate " Planetree Hall " from the
1861 census record for the Parish of Tongland.
The 3 preceding locations on the sheet
can all be found on the road north out of
Ringford towards Laurieston, namely Greenhill,
 Howford, Glen Tarff, but I cannot find Planetree Hall.
My GG grandmother Agnes Stewart was listed
on the census aged 7 with her family.

She was married in "Ringford" in 1872 by the Church of Scotland
minister of the Tongland Parish Church.
Can anyone suggest a church location?

Does the marriage certificate give a location for the marriage? She may not have been married in a church - perhaps at the Manse or even at her home. A little information here:

I've just spent ages zooming in on the 6 ins OS map (1842-1882) and found all the places that Blinky mentions but no Planetree Hall so far.

I'll try the larger one but not hopeful

I can't see it either gnu ... I thought about looking at earlier maps in case the name had changed but the family still called it Planetree Hall. I have found other 'Halls' but not Planetree. Or perhpas it was so small it wasn't even named on the OS maps?

So do you think Plantree Hall is north or south from Ringford?

Sorry,I took myself off to bed!  I think that Planetree is to the NW of Ringford - definitely to the West, anway

The description on the cover page doesn't help much either 

I've had a look at the census sheets to see what came after and the route went ~

Greenhill
Howford
Glen Tarff
Planetree Hall
Barcaple Cottage
High Barcaple Cothouse
High Barcaple Cothouse
High Barcaple Farm House
Barcaple High Lodge

As Barcaple is to the SW of the road, I think the route doesn't follow the road in a direct SE-NW direction but must veer off it. The problem is, does it veer off before or after Planetree Hall. There are quite a few buildings in the Barcaple area so it could be any one of those 

Also, in rural areas the route did not necessarily take in adjacent buildings. I had this problem when I was looking at households in Wester Ross a few years ago.
 
Just realised that I travelled down that road from Lauriston a few years ago!

For what it's worth, the header reads

That part of the Parish of Tongland bounded  on the East by the Road beginning at Tongland Bridge and running along the Vale of Tarff towards Ringford so far as Meiklewood cottages, from this place to Meiklewood Smithy by a small stream of Water, and thence by the Road running past Woodhead, Balannan, Dunycop (?) and Longwood to where the Parish of Balmaghie begins; on the North by the Parish of Balmaghie; on the West by the Parish of Twynholm and on the South by the Parish of Twynholm, the mouth of the Tarff water and the River Dee. This comprises the Village of Ringford (computed Length about 6 miles , Breadth about 2˝  miles)

That's fairly comprehensive gnu.  Thanks for the guidance.

It can be really difficult to follow the enumerator's route - sometimes there appears to be no logic to it.

Looking at your list, I think the area you've marked has got to be a good bet. As you say, there are a number of dwellings there ...
