1891 263 Portobello Road Kevis family Completed
« on: Saturday 03 September 11 21:09 BST (UK) »
Hi
I can not find James Henry Kevis, (b 1849) or his wife, Jane Gay Kevis  (b 1849) on the 1891 census.  They appear on the 1881 and 1901 census living in the Portobello Road, with their children.  I have looked on FindMyPast using street address and find that there are a number of houses missing.  Is this correct, or just me??!

Thank
Brian

Thank you Jennifer, you have confirmed my thoughts.

Carole, its a strange world, I only found out about Frederick yesterday morning! (Cross checking family numbers against 1911.)

Thank you both

Brian

Hi

The census street index for 1891 confirms there is a missing Enumeration District return

Hi. I am researching this Kevis family.
James's brother Walter was also a tobacconist from 1877, in Petworth, but more notably he was photographer.
I would be interested in any further information on the family.
What is your link to the family?

Hi aancestorsearch

Welcome to Rootschat  ;D

According to his profile, Brian hasn't been here since 2013 but as long as his email address hasn't changed, he should receive a notification that you have posted and hopefully come back soon.

Hi aancestorsearch, I will message you some details.  A number of Walter photos are held in the Sussex archives, copies of which I have.     James Henry Taylor Kevis was my wife's second great grandfather/
