Details on SA BDM CD's
« on: Saturday 03 September 11 06:33 BST (UK) »
Wondering if someone can tell me what details are on the CD's for Marriage Registrations 1842-1916 from the SA Genealogy and Heraldry Society.
Particularly, do the entries show the names of the fathers of the bride and groom? That would be included on the actual marriage certificate, but is it on the CD entries?

Just asking as I have the CD of Birth Registrations 1842-1906, and there are a couple of things that are not on the CD entries (father's occupation; informant) that are on the certificates.

Ta.

If the bride and groom are adults (over 21) in most cases it does not give fathers name , but if underage they mostly do. Witnesses are not included and neither are occupations.
It does shown ages or fl(meaning full age - adults) place and date of marriage.
Hope this helps

Jingali,

The fathers' names of both bride and groom are not listed on the South Australian Marriages Index entries up until approximately 1856. After that, the fathers' names are recorded in the index, as is the exact date of marriage.

Ta everyone  :)

I'm still not exactly sure if fathers names are listed on the CD, or only on the certificates? (for those underage).

Dee, by SA Marriages Index, do you mean the CD?

Yes, Jingali.....Index is on the CD. (and on fiche and in books)

The age doesn't matter.....the fathers of both whether underage or of full age are listed after 1856, and some for 1856.

However, not all the details on the certificates are listed.
