RALPH, MATTHEW - BIRTH/BAPTISM CONFIRMATION

I am seeking evidence for the birth of an ancestor, Matthew Ralph apparently born/baptized 8 April, 1815 in Cadoxton Justa Neath, Glamorgan.  His parents were Martin Ralph and Martha Curnow.  Some of his siblings were also born in Cadoxton - namely, Mary b. 13/7/1813, Edward Martin b. 23/3/1817 and John b. 29/8/1819.

Is it at all possible for anyone to do a lookup for me please or alternatively give me some guidance as to how I might find evidence for this information?

Hi Lin,
The Record for Mathew is on Familysearch IGI as you know and is Extracted which means it was transcribed from the actual Parish Records.
All the others are on the same Batch on Familysearch.Org

On FreeeREG www.freereg.org.uk we have;

WILLIAM, 12 July 1810
MARY, 13 July 1813
EDWARD, 23 March 1817, Fathers Occp Smith, Abode Abbey
JOHN, 29 August 1819, Fathers Occp Blacksmith, Abode Abbey
(Mathew is not on there though even using soundex in case of mistranscription)

Other than looking at Parish Records yourself Extracted Records are reasonably reliable esp. if from more than one source.

Pallots on Anc. has the Marriage of Martin RALPH, Blacksmith and Martha CURNOW, 1803, Towednack (Cornwall)
If they Married there then there may be other Children born 1803-1809 in Cornwall.
Cornwall OPC has the Marriage 26 January 1803.
Unfortunately no Parents names or Witnesses given only that he was a Blacksmith.

I cant find a Record for Martin Ralph born in Cornwall but I think this is likely to be Martha as Brides usually Married in their own Parish;

I noticed a Family Tree with Marthas Parents as Wiiliam and Matha Humphries but they seem to have no confirmation of this so I am sceptical.
As Martin/Martha name their Son Mathew and a Daughter Elizabeth the one I posted seems likely.

The Tree has Martin born 23 February 1780, St Austal, Cornwall, Father MARTIN Ralph.
Familysearch.Org, England Births/Christenings 1538-1975 has;
MARTIN Ralph, Baptised 09 April 1780, Birth 23 February 1780, Crowan, Cornwall to MARTIN/ELIZA

On Cornwall OPC we have a Marriage, 02 August 1777, Crowan, Cornwall;
Martin RALPH/Elizabeth PEARCE

There is also these possible Burials;
MARTIN Ralph, 26 Dec 1833, Crowan, Cornwall, Age 84 (Birth c 1749)
ELIZABETH Ralph, 15 January 1830, Crowan, Conwall, Age 80 (Birth c 1750)

Could Martin have been Widowed and moved back to Cornwall by 1841???

All except John down as born in County
Elizabeth age 25 is probably the Daug born c 1808
It is not unknown for a Blacksmith to be an Engineer at that time.
Also having a Curnow in the household is too much of a coincidence.

I had found a Martin still alive in 1851 with Daug Elizabeth Hawke born c 1810.
If you think this is a likely scenario I will post tomorrow.

There is a Death on Cornwall OPC of a Martin Ralph 1856 that fits also (you an check it )
