Saffron Walden PR Lookup - Sarah Barker b. 1797 - COMPLETED

If anyone has access to the Saffron Walden parish records and could look up the baptism of my great x 4 grandmother, Sarah Barker, who I believe was born around 1797 in Saffron Walden, I would be most grateful.

May or may not be helpful, but I have Barkers in another part of my tree, also from the same area of Essex, and they seem to interchange the surname Barker with Cakebread.

Hi Tara,

I have Barkers from Saffron Walden but Sarah 1797 is not in my tree at present although I have a file of stuff to sort out and update to my records.

However I see that when noting baptisms at the record office some years ago I included Sarah daughter of Robert and Ann Ward BARKER baptised at Saffron Walden on 11 August 1797.

I will double check this when I go next.

I haven't come across the Cakebread surname.  I have several other Saffron Walden families.

Thanks, Selina, I would be most grateful if you could check next time you're at the RO.

The Cakebreads in my family are from the Radwinter and Gt Sampford areas of Essex and I made this connection with the interchangeable name (as I was quite confused until this point) when one of the parish registers stated Jacob Barker alias Cakebread.

Hi again Tara,

Went to branch RO today and had a look at Saff. W fiche.

Just as well as now I study it more closely it was 4 not 11 August.

Anyway the entry is just like this.

The 'Ward' bit is just like that - as if it is Ann's middle name or their surname was Ward Barker, which is unlikely.

It is unfortunate that there are so many Robert Barkers in S.W.  Robert, William and Mary seem to have been the Barkers favorites. 

I am lucky in that I have an Obadiah Barker!

Our families must circle around each other, I have Fuller, Mountford, Drane in Great Sampford.
