Criminal records - Hereford 1800
« on: Wednesday 31 August 11 11:52 BST (UK) »
Can anyone assist with criminal records for Hereford in 1800?

I would like to find out about a George Pember, who was convicted in Hereford on 5 August 1800, before being shipped to Australia for "life" in September 1802, arriving NSW March 1803.

I have checked records at ancestry.co.uk, but found this only run from 1805 onwards.

Any assistance shall be greatly appreciated!

I’d be interested to know the baptism details of George Pember – who was in the City of Hereford in 1800.

I see from the Hereford Journal of 13 August 1800, that George Pember and several other men were convicted & sentenced to death for sheep-stealing. Luckily, he was reprieved.

I presume he met with success in Australia.
