No, Peter is still alive in 1871 as he appears in 1881 Census. Also Eliz is down as Mar in 1871.
He may have been just working away from home and Elizabeth is staying with her Mother.
I havent really looked for him in 1871 as I have been going back with his Family.

A couple of interesting things there. In the 1871 census is Sarah, aged 10. Which would give an approx. birth date of 1861. Earlier we have a Sarah Ann, shown on the 1901 census as being 34, which would give an approx birth date as 1867.

I'm not sure I can understand this. Are these two sisters or a generation apart?

Hi,

Trish is offline so I just checked the 1871 census which is very faint.  Sarah is aged 4 not 10.

A little update on this. From the information given, I have been able to trace that Lawrence was one of a total of 14 children born to John and Sarah Ann. Six of these died early, which of course left eight. Of these, one spouse is confirmed. I have probables to five of the others. The remaining two seem to have disappeared from radar....!

Thats the same Peter Heaton that is in my tree. Thanks for the info.

As regards the children of John Heaton, what would be the easiest way to trace their children? I do know some, but by no means all. As far as I am aware, they have all passed away bar one.
