Rupert Beresford - emigrated 1954 - help please
« on: Tuesday 30 August 11 07:14 BST (UK) »
Hi there,
Just a quick note wondering if anyone can help with any information on a distant relative or mine who I believe emigrated in 1954
His name was Rupert Seymour Cecil Beresford, born 1907.
We believe he emigrated to New York around 1954.
He may have left with his wife Joan ( his third wife !)
Any help would be much appreciated  :) :)

Apparently there was a death announcement in The Times of 16 October 1986

You could try http://www.newsint-archive.co.uk/

but when I tried it just now I got an error message suggesting I try http://www.newstext.com.au/ instead

My great uncle Rupert Beresford (b. 1907) - third wife Joan - emigrated certainly but I knew only of him living in Kenya. I'm told he died in 1987.

re Rupert Seymour Cecil Beresford - left England 1947 with third wife Joan and went to Kenya.  Three children born in Kenya all living in England now.  What links with this family?

My father, Rupert Seymour Cecil Beresford left England in 1947 and went with his third wife to live in Kenya.  They had three children,
(*).  Rupert Seymour Cecil died in Kenya in the late 1980s; however, Joan and the children came to England in 1965. Rupert Seymour Beresford was Rupert Seymour Cecil's father.  He married his wife in 1929 when my father, Rupert Seymour Cecil and his brother Claude were in their 20s.  Rupert Seymour's wife was a Binder.  There are many holes in  Rupert Seymour Cecil Beresford's life including his previous wives, which only came to light recently to the family.
