Hi
Robert Eames, Mariner, aged 71, of 3 Mason Street, Hirael, Bangor, died St David's Hospital(Bangor), buried 02/04/1932 at Glanadda Cemetery, Bangor. Second opening of grave B1327.
Haven't found entry for first opening, I need to look further back. Do you know death dates of Wives ?

Thank you for your reply. I do have a death ref for Mary Eames Q4 1898 40 yrs Bangor 11b 322. Mary Eames is recorded on the 1891 census with Robert, but 1901 census shows Robert Eames remarried. There are two death refs for his daughers  - Charlotte Eames 1905 15ys Bangor 11b 331 and Jane Ann Eames 1918 22ys Bangor 11b 592.

Hi
Didn't receive today's reply until after I came back from the Archives.
Found the entry for the first opening of the grave (B1327) and it's been altered. Originally it read ' Mary Ann McShane, Spinster, aged 22, 3 Mason Street, buried 06/02/1918'. 'McShane' has been crossed out and 'Eames' written above it; also 'Jane' written above 'Mary', but 'Mary' not crossed out. There is a different grave, second opening, burial 12/11/1918 of a Terrance McShane, mariner, aged 80. Do you know if there was a connection between the Eames' and McShanes that could have caused the confusion ?
I've checked from Jan 1905 thro' to around 1939, but didn't see any other entries for B1327. I assume Charlotte is the 'Lottie' in the 1891 Census. Didn't find the family in other Censuses, except Ellen in 1901, servant at 19 Club Street. Where were the parents 1901 ?
I'll recheck 1905 records and 1891-1901, and also try to find out location of the grave.
Emyr

Thank you for your reply. Robert Eames married a 2nd time to Mary Jane McShane in 1900 Bangor 11b 479.  The 1901 census shows them living at 2 Fountain Terrace Bangor. The head is Jane McShane age 60. The Eames is spelt Ames and they are recorded as grandchildren to head, but they are step grandchildren.  Their mother Mary Eames died in 1898 Bangor 11b 322 and Jane Ann Eames was born in 1896.  Jane McShane died Q2 1901 59yrs Bangor.  Bmd has 2 death refs for Jane Ann Eames and Jane Ann McShane!! A mistake has been made somewhere and I'm thinking Robert Eames sailor may be at sea when this sad death happened thus the wrong information.  Could Charlotte Eames died 1905 Bangor15yrs 11b 344 be buried with her mother Mary Eames died 1898?

Hi there,

Forgot to add Terrance McShane was father in law to Robert Eames and living at 3 Mason St Hirael Bangor. Hope this helps, it's very confusing.

Hi there,
Thank you for taking the trouble to look up burial refs.  I now know there are 3 surving Eames children left. I can find nothing on Margaret after 1891.  I have a marriage ref for Ellen to check and Robert I have in 1911 living with his father.

Hi,
A small stone, about 15 inches high on grave B1327 in West Old Ground, Glanadda. "In loving memory of Ann Eames, R Eames, also Mary Jane Owens died March 27 1947."

Grave 1403, West New Ground - does not appear to be a stone. Records show a Terence & Jane MacShane buried here, also a Hannah Rampsey 02/06/1949.

Grave 1139 West New Ground - does not appear to be a stone. Was told that a Liza Eames is also in this grave, buried 25/09/1888. Later found record of an Elin Eames, infant of Robert Eames ,5 months, 55 Ambrose, Hirael, buried Sept 1888, buried in this grave. Perhaps you can check correct name on BMD.
