Kesiah SMITH
« on: Monday 29 August 11 13:26 BST (UK) »
Hi I am looking for any trace of the above as far as I can gather she was born in Wiltshire in a place called 'Evesley' ??? about 1780 her father was John Smith and her mother Repentance Smith. She was supposedly married to a James Jenkins in Portsea in or around 1814.I live in Kent and travelling is difficult for me.I have a record for her in 1820 living at Sticelet Cottage on the Isle of Wight and her husband by then is a fisherman.I have her death certificate where she is in 1870 when she died but can find little information about her at all

Hi Walder,

I think the parish you are after is Everleigh. A Repentance SMITH was buried St Peter Everleigh 26 Feb 1795

Cheers Kris  :)

A Kerem Happuch/Kerenchappuch SMITH (female) was baptised 20 Oct 1782 Milton Lilborne (Residence Milton Lodge) parents John and Repentance. Milton Lilborne is 4 miles from Everleigh

There are several baptisms to John and Repentance listed on the IGI in Everley (alternate spelling) including Keziah in 1780. Unfortunately these baptisms have been submitted by a member of the LDS church so will need to to be verified.

James JENKINS =Kezia SMITH 4 Apr 1814 in Portsea

Cheers Kris  :)

Trish :)

EDIT just realised a Child was born before this so maybe not the correct Marriage.

Wow so much info thank you so much I am hoping that my brick wall has now a few cracks in it It seems that the elusive Kesiah told a few porkies about her age as on her death certificate she is listed as 104 in 1870 but as she was registered by her daughter-in-law who apparently was losing her marbles a bit as well its not suprising really.Kesiah was my late husband's 5 x gr-grandma and I'm so pleased to get a little more info Thanks once again
