Commemorative medal 1941 - can anyone offer any more information
« on: Sunday 28 August 11 23:47 BST (UK) »
HI all

Whilst going through a box of old items I came across the medal below in with my Great Grandfathers (Charles Everitt 1897 - 1986) artefacts.  I have looked on Google but can't seem to find any mention of what it relates to in any detail, I was wondering if anyone else may be able to offer any help?

Warm Regards

Hi Keith,

There is mention of the visit on this newsreel (you may have to play through some other stories to get to it):
http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=74991
Description:  "1931 - the Lord Mayor of Liverpool goes on a goodwill visit to New York and is entertained by the Mayor of New York - James 'Gentleman Jimmy' Walker. They pose together for the cameras. "

Don't know who would have received the medal or why, though.  Where was your Great-Grandfather at the time?

Cheers
