Did Thomas Banks wife Emma go to prison and why?

Sorry for delay.  LONG DELAY!  From the book that I mentioned, it seems that while Emma was still in prison awaiting trial, she gave birth to her first son, whom they named Thomas Alexander. This was on 09 Jan 1859.

The local newspaper reported the birth and added that Emma was awaiting her trial in Winchester prison for the murder of William Parsons.

You really need to get the book if you have an interest in the family.  At the end of the book among the notes and references, there are several referring to The Times  newspaper between 30 Nov and 17 Dec 1858.  You can access the Times Digital Archive for free in libraries if you are in this country.  Can't say about other countries.

Noone was found guilty of the murder.  Emma was more than 7 months pregnant at the time.

The Banks left the Andover area, but returned in about 1880 to farm at Andover Down.  Emma died in 1884 and Thomas in 1899.  They are buried in Andover.

Thank you Hampshire Grandma for info it was very helpful.  Thomas Banks and his second daughter Emma Jane lived at Fox Farm Andover Down, the rest of the family lived in London 1881 cencus.   Later Thomas built a house opposite the farm and some of his descendants lived there until the 1960s.

Thanks for replying.  Strangely enough my grandparents lived at Fox Cottages before I was born, and my grandfather( who died before I was born) was a carter on the farm. He died about 1930 I think.

When I was helping some of my cousins with their tree a few years ago, surname Grist, some of them had lived at Fox Cottages too.  I have a feeling that there may have been a connection between the Grists and the Banks but would have to check that

I live not far from these cottages

Hi all. This is my first post. And I have to shout out a huge thank you to hampshire-grandma for supplying so much info related to the Thomas Alexander Banks, b.1824 in Andover. He has turned out to be my husband's Great-grandfather.
Can someone help me  find the  of the names of the children of Thomas Alexander Banks b.1824 and Emma d. 1884 in the London 1881 census mentioned above? I am aware of their son Thomas Alexander Banks, b. 1859 in Winchester, thanks to "Hampshire-grandma". Thomas Alexander Banks, b. 1899 in Fulham, Mdlsx d. in 1983 bur. in Kyle, SK, Canada. His mother was Laura Stokes, ( I have found nothing more of her-help?). Tom's parents moved back (?) to Andover while Tom was young.
Young Tom had lung problems and trouble breathing, so his father, Thomas A., b. 1859, accompanied him to the dry, clear Canadian, Saskatchewan prairies in 1911, when Tom was 12 years old. They got a homestead piece for young Tom to "prove up" and Tom's father left him there while he went on home to England.

I must now seek out the children of Thomas Alexander Banks b. 1824 d. 1899 and Emma d. 1884 in Andover, Hampshire.
