Hi Bob,
I am researching the OMOND family descended from Thomas OMOND (1843 Eday, Orkney - 1911 Port Chalmers, NZ) and his wife Catherine MILLER.
So far I have failed to find the arrival in NZ of Thomas - he was in the census in Kirkwall in 1861 as a 17 year old ships carpenter; and must have arrived in NZ before 1872, as he was both married and purchased land at Lower Harbour that year.
Have you come across any OMOND arrivals?
In my searching I have found this that may interest you - I found it on the Papers Past website [https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz]:
Marriage: On the 26th January 1882, at the residence of the bride’s parents, Elgin House, Cumberland street, by the Rev Dr Stuart, Peter Spence, eldest son of Mr Peter Omand, to Susannah Farnley-Bowie, youngest daughter of Mr John Drew. [OTAGO WITNESS, ISSUE 1577, 4 FEBRUARY 1882]
Sincerely,
Pip

Hi Pip
Thank you for your no te regarding Thomas Omond. I have not come across any information as my family is spelt Omand. I have just looked up Thomas records on the Dunedin cemetery records and his death is recorded as 24 Sept 1911 and noted that he lived for 40 years in NZ. That makes him arriving here in 1871. You may have already looked on that site. I did find a record on Family Search that shows him married to Catherine at Port Chalmers and they had a son born1874, died 1957.
Yes I have the details of Peter Spence Omand, he was my great uncle on my mothers side and his father, Peter was my great grandfather.
Sorry that I am unable to help further.
Kind regards Bob.

My wife is Kate Taurima nee Omand, her father is Christopher Lex Omand, her grandfather is Edwin Allan Omand. We live in Christchurch and only discovered yesterday that she has relatives predominantly in Dunedin

I would love to link her up with whānau.
