Lost in 1861
« on: Tuesday 23 August 11 23:00 BST (UK) »
My Grt Grt Grandmother Harriet Thompson b 1806 Skircoat Halifax Yorkshire.

Marries my Grt Grt Grandfather James King b 1807 ( marriage 1831 Halifax.)

I have them on the census’s 1841….1851…but the family appear to have disappeared in 1861 and I have searched and searched for them, even as individuals.

However my Grt Grt Grandmother appears back again on the 1871…1881….and 1891 Census’s.

1871 she is down as a widow.  1881 and 1891 she is living with members of the family.
(Her children)

I would be most grateful for any help in finding the family in 1861.

Regards Maureen

one of the town centre pieces has around 500 names instead of the usual 5000.
So yes, there's a big chunk missing.

I have just looked on the 1861 census info on Familysearch.org and this looks like James King.....
Age - 55
Head
Birthplace - Skircoat
Reg. District - Halifax
Parish - Salterhebble Church in Scircoat

Can't find Hannah King though!

That looks very positive as there are children of the same names.  :)

You mention Hannah when you mean Harriett but there is a Hannah which could be a mistake.

Hi there and thank you everyone for all your information and efforts.

I had a look on Familysearch.org  and for all it may be a possibility, without buying credits I cant view the information to check it out,  you mention there are matching children.

I already have a worldwide subscription on Ancestry is it possible to find the same info somewhere on there? silly question I suppose as I have been searching on there for quite sometime now.

regards Maureen
