Birth Register look-up Romsey please William Webber

I am trying to trace the birth records of my g/grandfather William Webber and his father,my g/g/grandfather, Stephen Webber. William married Ellen Baker on 7/7/1867 at Romsey Parish Church, the certificate showed his father to be Stephen Webber, a stonemason. At the time of the marriage William was living in Romsey at the same address as his bride to be, and was said to be of full age. presume d/b to be about 1847. According to 1871 census his birthplace was Lambeth and on 1881 census Romsey Infra. I have copies birth/mariage and death certificates of his daughter Louisa Ann (my grandmother) but these don't really help me. Any advice on how to progress my searches would be appreciated.

William Webber birth record June Qtr 1847 Lambeth volume 4 page 296. With this you can get a copy of his birth certificate that will give you info on his Mother and Father.

Just to say there is another William Webb born c1847 Lambeth on the 1851/1861/1871c Lambeth with his parents William & Harriett

Was William's father Stephen deceased at the time of marriage? Can't place them together on 1851 census

Can find no trace of a Stephen Webber who was a Stone Mason plus, just to confuse things even further, in 1891 and 1901 William Webber states he was born in Blandford, Dorset!

Please can you let us know if William's father Stephen noted as deceased on 1867 marriage certificate

to confuse things even further, in 1891 and 1901 William Webber states he was born in Blandford, Dorset!

That is confusing matters - to hopefully help with the search of William Webber's birth can I just  clarify Conqueror that I have got the correct family on the censuses

Sorry for the delay in replying, I obtained the birth certificate as suggested but this did not show Stephen as his father, but a William and Harriet as his parents. I think I will call a halt to this enquiry now, and try some other route. Very many thanks to all for your assistance..

Hello all, and apologies for not replying sooner. Anyway to answer the points raised:

Paco,  yes I had thought of getting the birth certificate of William Webber born Lambeth, but obviously wasn't sure if this would be the right one in view of the various birth places mentioned on the various censuses. if necessary I will have to.
Ladyhawk: There is no evidence on the marriage certificate to say that Stephen was deceased. Just out of interest neither of the witnesses to the wedding were were named either Webber or Baker, but Henry Head and Eliza Bowie?. I suppose she could have been a married sister! Would there be any more information on Wedding Banns?
Also there is no address on the marriage certificate.
Annette: You have come across the same problem as me. Lambeth, Romsey, Blandford etc
Ladyhawk: I have been through all the censuses that you have listed, and agree with your thoughts. Is it possible do you think that Stephen could have been a brother and not his father. ?

I think that I will get the certificate as suggested, in the meantime I will endeavour to trace other siblings and children. Very many thanks for your time and energies all of you. I hope to be back shortly. Chris

Although I have obtained a copy of the Birth Certificate of William Webber as suggested, it does not really help. I am therefore looking to see if I can trace further information through other members of the family. Very many thanks to all who replied to me initial enquiry.
