Hi Christine sorry nothing in my index for the above
I see Montgomery & James married in 30.11.1865 and
had 2 Children Montomgery 21.9.1866 & Archibald 1.10.1868
do you know who the children married?
I take it that Montomery died in Childbirth.

Hi Norrie

Thanks for your efforts in finding various gravestones belonging to my family tree!
Yes you're right in guessing Montgomery died in childbirth.

Found your comments about their children very interesting!
I have Archibald's birth certificate and, at the moment, have traced him as far as being a medical student in the 1891 census
1871 census showed James Cook as a widower with Archibald and a 4 year old daughter, but named Christina not Montgomery! Tried to find further records of Christina, only one was an 1866 illegitimate birth to a Christina Cook with a grandfather Archibald and I was thinking of family connections and farming out the child to hide a family secret!
Where did you find the record of Montgomery Jr's birth? Wonder how Christine fits in?

In Abbotshall search you rightly found grave of James Cook's 2nd wife, Jane Hogarth's parents. (James and Jane retired to house nearby, why I tried there) James Cook's parents were Archibald Cook and Isabella Sunter who died in Lochgelly( b Dunfermline, Townhill?) and Cluny (B Kilconquhar) respectively.
Thanks again for your help.
Christine

Hi Christine  yes it should have been Archibald & Catherine
Not Archibald & Montogmery, typing error senior moment

I obtained it from IGI family search
And there is no death on Scotlands people for a Catherine Cook born 1866
Between 1866 & 1871 they must have change it or the census recorded it
as Christine instead of Catherine, no sign of catherine or christine
on 1881 census
IGI

Hi Norrie
Thanks for the information.
Montgomery's mother was Catherine (Cook) so more likely her daughter would be called Catherine than Christine. Marriage  cert had (cousins) after Montgomery's name so trying to find if Catherine was their father's sister! Still wonder what happened to Catherine/Christine and where Montgomery may be buried, the rest of the Cooks for that matter too! She was born Dalgety and James and brother Davd (my x2 grandfather) Kilconquhar so might be there!

Thanks for info on Archibald's wife and death, will check but probably him!
Re John Hogarth's grave and 3? wives. James and Jane's marriage was 1871,with Jane 31 so Mother tho, deceased couldn't have died 10.5.18. Tho' you did say dates hard to read.

Haven't located many branches of Cook or Galloway graves yet. All Fife except one Galloway I know is in Morningside!
Lucky wandering helped me find two in Kinglassie and Beath graveyards quite quickly and so the search goes on!
Again, big thanks for looking and extra info!
Christine

Alice (Neary) Reddington died in 1911 and I presume her to have been buried there in Lochgelly, Fife where her third child was born; Martin Joseph Reddington b. 29 Aug 1908.

I would like to know about the Reddington surname there at the Lochgelly Cemetery if possible.

Hi these are the only Reddington inscriptions in Lochgelly Cemetery

1008   In Memory of Patrick REDDINGTON died 15.4.1977
   husband of Ellanna O’Reilly

1022   William Devlin died 4.4.1972 age 54
his wife Ellen REDDINGTON died 9.4.1997 age 78

Remember my index is based on Headstones no burials

the 1881 census shows no Reddingtons in Fife
